In the ongoing Test series in England, the fate of the Pakistani team was the same as was expected. Hardly anyone would have thought that Pakistan would be able to challenge England in any way. That too with this poor condition batting line-up. But whatever be the condition of the team, one player has lived up to the expectations and is showing his magic. This is fast bowler Mohammad Abbas. Abbas, who had good experience of playing in England’s county cricket, brought this experience to the Lord’s Test and single-handedly took 5 wickets for England in the second innings.
On the fourth day of the Lord’s Test match between England and Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas took 2 wickets and completed his 5 wickets in the innings. England started playing with the score of 7 wickets for 177 runs and the remaining three wickets fell in the first session itself. Out of these, right-arm pacer Mohammad Abbas took 2 wickets. He first clean bowled Dan Lawrence and then took his 5th wicket in the innings and 9th wicket in the match by returning Olly Robinson to the pavilion.
This was very special for Mohammad Abbas because it was only his second Test and fourth innings overall at Lord’s. He got 4-4 wickets in all three innings including the first innings of this match and missed 5 wickets in the hall. In such a situation, this time Abbas died after completing his work. Not only this, after 16 years, a Pakistani fast bowler did the feat of taking 5 wickets in a Test innings at Lord’s. Before him, left-arm pacer Mohammad Aamir had done this in 2010. Whereas leg spinner Yasir Shah took 5 wickets in an innings in 2016.
