Panaji: An engine of an IndiGo flight going to Delhi suddenly malfunctioned on Tuesday morning. The plane had to return to Goa after a technical glitch surfaced. After this, the aircraft made an emergency and safe landing at Manohar International Airport. There were a total of 229 passengers on board the plane.
An airport official said that the plane took off from Manohar International Airport in Mopa, North Goa at around 9.20 am. Shortly after take-off, an engine failure was reported, following which it was decided to bring the aircraft back to Goa.
Plane returned after engine failure
According to the official, the plane that had left for Delhi was diverted back to Mopa Airport after it encountered a technical problem in one of its engines. The plane made a safe emergency landing at the airport.
All 229 passengers on board the plane were kept safe during the incident. Officials said that after the plane lands safely, the passengers will be provided with alternative arrangements for onward travel.
Passengers will be sent to Delhi by another plane
The official said that the passengers on board the plane will be sent to Delhi by another plane in the afternoon. At present, no detailed information has been given by the officials regarding the reasons for the engine failure.
The technical condition of the aircraft is being investigated after the incident. Airport officials have not shared any more information regarding the incident.
