Engineer quits Rs 30,000 job, now earns Rs 2 lakh a month

A Mumbai-based engineer has captured attention on social media after revealing that he walked away from a conventional engineering job paying around ₹30,000 a month and built a cab business that now earns him nearly ₹2 lakh monthly.

The story came to light through a video shared by Bengaluru-based Canadian content creator Caleb Friesen, who spoke with the driver during a cab ride in Mumbai. What began as a casual conversation soon turned into a discussion on entrepreneurship, financial independence and career choices.

From engineer to entrepreneur

According to the driver, he completed an engineering degree but was dissatisfied with the salary being offered in entry-level jobs, which ranged between ₹20,000 and ₹30,000 per month. Instead of accepting the position, he chose to start a transport business.

He reportedly began with a single vehicle and gradually expanded his operations. Today, he owns four cars and continues to drive while managing his growing business.

‘You have to take risks’

When asked whether he was worried about leaving a stable career path, the driver defended his decision, saying that taking risks is essential for anyone seeking financial independence.

His practical approach to business and long-term asset creation impressed both the content creator and viewers online. Many social media users praised his determination and willingness to pursue an unconventional path.

Story sparks discussion online

The viral video has triggered broader conversations about the definition of success, particularly among young professionals facing limited salary growth despite years of education.

Many users viewed the driver’s journey as an example of how entrepreneurship, when combined with persistence and calculated risk-taking, can create opportunities beyond traditional career routes
