England Footballer Ivan Toney Assault Case: England footballer Ivan Toney has once again found himself in a controversy. He has been charged with assault after allegedly headbutting a fan trying to take a selfie at the Upstairs Soho nightclub. He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 24th in connection with the case. The 30-year-old striker was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an incident at 100 Wardour Street in London on December 6th last year. Ivan Toney, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, is originally from Northampton.
Reports at the time alleged that former Brentford player Ivan Toney, who had moved to Al-Ahli two years ago for £40 million, was attacked by a fan who wanted to take a selfie. A witness reported that Ivan Toney passed a table with a group of boys. One of them recognized him and said, “Oh, that’s Ivan Toney.” He jumped up in joy and tried to put his arms around him to take a photo. An angry Ivan Toney responded, “Get away from me, get away from me.”
Ivan Toney was arrested in this case.
The witness said that Toney was wearing a “pretty nice watch” and might have been worried he was being robbed. Ivan Toney was subsequently arrested after allegedly headbutting the fan. A spokesperson for Toney said that Ivan accepts the charges and, while he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name in court.
The incident occurred at a nightclub in W1.
A Metropolitan Police statement on Friday (August 7, 2026) stated that a man has been charged with assault following an investigation by the Met. Ivan Toney, 30, from Northampton, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Thursday, July 31. He will now appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The charge relates to the assault, which allegedly occurred on December 6, 2025, at a nightclub on Wardour Street, W1.
