EPFO’s e-office will remain closed for this evening, so get your important work done quickly.

If you also use the digital apps or services of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), then this important news is only for you. EPFO’s e-office related services are going to be closed for a few hours on Wednesday. According to the official information given by EPFO, due to regular upgrade and maintenance in the system, its e-office application will not be available at all for a few hours today, i.e. Wednesday, August 5. The main purpose of this maintenance done from time to time is to further improve the functionality, performance and user service delivery of the platform.

The shutdown will be from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm

According to information provided by the EPFO, the e-Office application will be down from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM today. During this time, technical officials will be working to upgrade several critical modules of the platform. These include key software such as eFile version 7.4.4-3, Portal version 8.2.2, MIS version 7.3.0, and MDM version 7.3.1-1. The department has also clarified that while the scope of this temporary maintenance is expected to be limited, users who wish to use EPFO services during this time may experience some disruptions or delays in receiving responses.

What will be the impact on EPFO subscribers and internal functioning?

This temporary disruption is likely to impact EPFO’s internal e-Office application the most. The retirement fund body has advised all members and stakeholders to plan their work accordingly, as some services may experience minor delays during this maintenance period. This new upgrade comes on the heels of EPFO’s recent database consolidation and software migration to make its digital services faster, more reliable, and completely secure.

While services for members and employers have already been restored in a phased manner, the EPFO has clarified that PF claims and other service requests are currently being processed with additional verification and validation checks. Therefore, users may experience slightly longer processing times for some online services.

Which EPFO services will be available on the UMANG app?

EPFO, while providing some relief information, also informed that certain services on the Umang app (which is the official application for availing EPF services) are being restored in a phased manner so that daily users face minimum inconvenience. Currently, features like UAN allotment, UAN activation, face authentication for activated UAN, FAQs, account information through SMS and PF balance enquiry through missed call are available on the Umang app.

The EPFO has also appealed to all members and relevant stakeholders to avoid logging in repeatedly or submitting the same request repeatedly during peak hours. Doing so may put unnecessary pressure and load on the upgraded system, leading to further disruptions.
