New Delhi, 18 October 2026: Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra won the US$4 million DP World India Championship by two shots at Delhi Golf Club on Sunday, while Anirban Lahiri finished as the best-placed Indian in a tie for 23rd.
Chacarra played 25 holes on a marathon final day after rain disrupted the schedule. He finished at 21-under 267 (67-67-63-70), two clear of New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier (74-64-64-67).
It was the 26-year-old’s third DP World Tour title of the season, after the KLM Open and the Open d’Italia in June, and the fourth of his career. The win took him to the top of the Race to Dubai, ahead of Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy, with three events left in Korea, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Five-shot lead, then a fight
Chacarra completed his third round early on Sunday with a seven-under 63 to start the final round five shots clear. Birdies at the first and third stretched the lead to six.
His first bogey of the weekend, when a par putt lipped out, cut the gap to four at the turn, and Hillier’s back-nine charge brought it down to two. Chacarra held on with a series of par saves, including one from 20 feet on the 10th and another on the 16th.
“I rely on my short game, and all the hard work I’ve been putting in in my putting and chipping, it paid off,” he said. “The last round was tough. It’s really tiring, waking up three days in a row at 4am.”
It was his second win in India in 19 months after the 2025 Hero Indian Open. He said he wants to earn an automatic place in Europe’s Ryder Cup team for Adare Manor next year. “I told Luke (Donald) I want to be in that team by not just a pick,” he said.
Lahiri bogey-free on Sunday
Lahiri closed with a bogey-free four-under 68 to finish at eight-under 280 (70-73-69-68), a clear improvement on his result at the event in 2025. The two-time DP World Tour winner was returning after a seven-week break.
Yuvraj Sandhu, who needed a late birdie run on Saturday morning just to make the cut, also shot a closing 68. He finished tied 34th at five-under 283 (75-68-72-68).
“India has the talent and the hunger, but we need weeks that can make or break careers,” Sandhu said.
Other Indians
Om Prakash Chouhan, the best Indian for the first three days, closed with a 73 for a share of 42nd at four-under 284 (68-72-71-73). Karandeep Kochhar was tied 49th at three under.
Saptak Talwar finished tied 55th at one-under 287 (71-73-72-71). The result was enough to confirm him as the 2026 DP World PGTI Order of Merit champion, with a DP World Tour card for next season.
Tough week at Delhi Golf Club
Storms on Thursday cost four hours and 50 minutes of play, and the field spent the rest of the week catching up. Seventy-seven players made the cut at even-par 144.
The tournament is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the DP World PGTI and was the season finale of the 2026 DP World PGTI. Read the third-round report.
