EV 2W Sales: Demand for electric two-wheelers continues to remain strong in India. According to data from the government’s VAHAN portal, as of July 29, there were 173,294 electric two-wheeler registrations in the country, a 68% increase compared to the same period last year. However, sales have slowed slightly compared to June. In June 2026, 194,300 units were registered, while in July this figure decreased by about 11%.
Despite this, July’s performance was significantly better than last year. Compared to 105,620 units in May 2025 and 111,441 units in June 2025, this time registrations were significantly higher. Notably, electric two-wheeler sales remained above 150,000 units for the fifth consecutive month.
Which company dominated in July?
TVS Motor continued its dominance in the electric two-wheeler market in July. The company registered 47,242 units, increasing its market share to 27.3%. In June, the company’s share was 24.3%, meaning TVS has further strengthened its lead over its competitors.
Bajaj Auto was in second place, registering 38,974 units and achieving a market share of 22.5%.
Ather Energy was in third place, registering 25,907 electric scooters, achieving a market share of 14.9%.
Hero MotoCorp’s electric brand, Vida, sold 18,611 units, achieving a market share of 10.7%.
Ola Electric’s market share continues to decline
In July, Ola Electric registered only 11,880 units. This reduced the company’s market share from 8.3% in June to 6.9%, leaving it in fifth place in the electric two-wheeler market.
Regarding other companies, a total of 30,680 units were registered in the ‘Others’ category, representing 17.7% of the total market. In June, this category registered 34,308 units.
Both a relief and a challenge for Ola Electric
Although market share continues to decline, Ola Electric has made a significant recovery in terms of registrations compared to the beginning of this year. In February 2026, the company registered only 4,035 vehicles, while by July this number had increased to 11,880 units. This means that in five months, the company has more than doubled its registrations. Despite this, market share remains under pressure due to intensifying competition.
Why did sales decline in July?
Industry experts believe that sales were exceptionally strong in June due to heavy discounts and promotional offers offered by companies. After these offers ended in July, the market returned to normal levels, resulting in a decline in monthly sales.
However, the industry has high hopes for the coming months. Demand for electric two-wheelers is expected to pick up again during the festive season due to new offers and attractive schemes. Demand is also expected to remain strong in both the domestic and international markets.
