Even though it is not a member of G7, why does India get invited every time? Know the real power of PM Modi that can bend the world
The annual summit of G7, a group of the world’s richest and most powerful countries, has started from Tuesday in the beautiful city of Evian in France. India has also been specially invited to participate in this very special and high-profile summit. Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in this summit and will have direct talks on global issues with all the leading heads of state of G7.
The biggest and interesting question that arises here is that India is not a permanent member of this G7 group, yet why is PM Modi given a red carpet welcome every time he joins it? Let us tell you that G7 is an elite forum of the world’s seven largest economies and developed countries, which includes superpower countries like America, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy and Canada. Why India remains in the main headlines of this summit every year despite not being a part of this group, let us understand in detail the big economic and strategic mathematics behind it.
India’s economic strength is bigger than France and Canada
In today’s era, it has become very important for the G7 countries to sit at the table with India on global diplomacy and economic forums. The first and concrete reason for this is that the current economy of India is much bigger than many countries included in this group, like Canada and France. According to the latest data of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India is currently at the top among the fastest growing economies of the world. While on one hand all the possibilities of development in most of the developed countries of the world have become completely stagnant or sluggish, on the other hand, the immense possibilities of progress and investment in India are continuously increasing.
India’s support is very important in making global strategy
Along with the economic front, India has now left China far behind in terms of population. The biggest thing is that about 68 percent of the country’s population falls in the working class. This means that India currently has the largest number of young, semi-skilled and highly skilled workforce in the world. Today, while formulating their policies, America, Japan and all the European countries are completely focusing on strengthening their coordination in the Indo-Pacific region by any means, and it is impossible to think of any strategy in this region without India.
If we look at the developments of the last few years, big countries like Britain, Germany and France have prepared their independent strategies related to the Indo-Pacific region, while Italy has also openly expressed its desire to be strongly associated with this region. The reason for repeatedly calling India is not just this. India has never blindly supported any one group in global politics and the country’s foreign policy has always been completely independent and clear. India’s coordination with western countries is excellent and our economic relations are continuously improving. The most important thing is that all these countries believe in democratic values like India.
Apart from this, most of the skilled professionals and students of India go to these western countries for work or higher education, which play a big role in running the economy there. India never directly participated in the aggressive policies of America and Western countries even in the matter of imposing sanctions on Russia or other countries. Because of this independent policy, today no country can deny India’s growing status and diplomatic power in the world.
G7’s declining economy and India’s rising stature on the global stage
According to an old report of the famous media organization BBC, in the year 1980, the total GDP of G7 countries used to be about 70 percent of the total GDP of the world, which today has reduced to only around 40 percent with a huge decline. At the same time, a recent report of the Hudson Institute has also warned that even though G7 is a group of influential countries today, there is every possibility of a major decline in their global status and economic influence in the future.
This is the reason why there has been strong speculation among international analysts for a long time that India can become a new and permanent member of this G7 group in the coming time. The demand to include India in global forums is continuously gaining momentum.
French President Emmanuel Macron sent a special invitation to PM Modi
This time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reaching Evian city of France to participate in the G7 summit on the special and personal invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. This important visit of PM Modi clearly demonstrates India’s strong engagement and credibility with the world’s most prominent global forums.
This is the record 13th time that India is attending this prestigious summit as a proud guest. These big invitations that the country is continuously receiving from the global platform clearly prove India’s growing influence in international affairs and our effective role in major discussions on global challenges.
According to the official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India’s regular and dignified presence at the G7 summits reflects the growing international recognition of India’s contribution in addressing serious global challenges related to world peace, security, inclusive growth and environmental sustainability.
