Exchange extends F&O timings and tweaks cash auction timings effective August 3

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced changes to trading and auction timings across its cash and derivatives segments, effective August 3, 2026.

As part of the revised schedule, trading in the Futures & Options (F&O) segment will continue until 3:40 PM, compared with the current closing time of 3:30 PM.

The exchange has also introduced a Closing Auction Session in the cash market. The auction session will be held between 3:15 PM and 3:35 PM and will be used for determining the closing price of securities.

According to the revised framework, the F&O market will remain open for an additional 10 minutes after the conclusion of the cash market’s closing auction process.

NSE has also revised the Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) window for calculating closing prices. The new VWAP window will run from 3:10 PM to 3:40 PM.

Key changes effective August 3, 2026:

  • F&O market closing time revised from 3:30 PM to 3:40 PM.
  • Closing Auction Session introduced in the cash segment from 3:15 PM to 3:35 PM.
  • Closing prices to be determined through the auction mechanism.
  • VWAP calculation window revised to 3:10 PM–3:40 PM.
  • Trade modification facility remains available until 4:15 PM.
  • No changes have been made to pre-open session timings or regular market opening hours.

The revised timings will apply from August 3, 2026, as per the exchange’s announcement.
