Como manager Cesc Fabregas revealed he regrets asking his team to slow down after taking 4-0 lead against Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Manchester United’s miserable form continued as it lost 1-4 to Como, marking just the fourth time United has conceded four or more goals in the Champions League. For Como, it was one of its biggest wins in history.
“Perhaps I regret the last ten minutes because I was the one who asked the team to slow down the tempo, because we have another match in a few days. I thought we were already 4-0 so we could perhaps manage things a little bit. That was a mistake, because I always ask my team to push until the end, we conceded a goal because we dropped our intensity. That goal hurt me and it was my fault,” Fabregas said.

The Red Devils have been winless in their last seven games, and have won just two out of its 11 matches in all competitions this season, with pressure mounting on manager Michael Carrick for a quick turnaround of fortunes.
While Fabregas acknowledged the win against United felt special, he said his focus has already shifted to the next match.
“I understand beating Manchester United carries more media attention but for me, I try to enjoy it for only five minutes and then I move on. There were no extraordinary emotions, because if we lose the next two games, then I’d say we were poor. Sassuolo is up next on Saturday, and I expect a tough challenge,” Fabregas added.
