Facebook services suddenly stopped
On Sunday, the services of Meta’s popular social media platform Facebook were suddenly affected. During the outage, a large number of users were unable to login to both the app and the website. For many people, the news feed was not loading, while some users were seeing error messages when opening the website. According to initial reports, this problem appeared to be affecting users from many countries simultaneously.
Complaints increased on Downdetector
Thousands of complaints were registered within no time on Downdetector, a platform that tracks outages. Most of the users reported login failures, feed not refreshing, problems in website access and loading errors on the app. Many users shared screenshots on social media and said that when opening Facebook, “Account Temporarily Unavailable” or other error messages were visible. Since Downdetector only shows data based on user reports, the number of actual affected users may be higher.
Users reached other platforms
After Facebook’s services were affected, a large number of users reached out to other social media platforms to know whether this problem is only in their account or other people are also affected by it. Many users shared screenshots related to blank screen, continuous loading and login errors. Within no time, Facebook Outage started trending on social media and people started demanding Meta to solve the problem soon.
No official statement came from Meta
Till the time of writing the news, Meta had not issued any official statement regarding the reason for this technical glitch. The company also did not clarify which regions the problem was limited to or whether it was widespread across the world. However, user reports from various countries and data from outage tracking websites indicated that it was a widespread technical problem. Later, information about gradual restoration of services in some areas also came to light, but many users had to face problems for some time.
