Fake FMG certificate racket in Jaipur, 3 doctors arrested

In Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, SOG exposed the fake FMG certificate racket and arrested 3 doctors who had returned from abroad after doing MBBS. The accused got fake certificates made by paying Rs 20-27 lakh and obtained registration by doing internship in medical colleges.

Jaipur: A big organized fake medical certificate racket has been exposed in Jaipur city. Special Operation Group (SOG) has arrested three doctors who returned to India after studying MBBS from abroad. The allegation against them is that they obtained fake certificates of FMG (Foreign Medical Graduate) screening examination required for practicing in India and on the basis of them also got themselves registered with Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC).

Identification of arrested doctors

According to SOG, the arrested doctors include Deepak Yadav (28), resident of Chaumun Jaipur, Raju Gurjar (28), resident of Deeg and Naresh Gurjar (30), resident of Alwar. All three had studied MBBS from Kazakhstan and after returning to India, despite appearing for the FMG exam several times, they could not pass.

Transaction worth lakhs of rupees for fake certificates

Investigation has revealed that huge amount of money was transacted in this entire fraud. Deepak Yadav got fake FMG certificates made by paying around Rs 24 lakh, Raju Gurjar by paying around Rs 27 lakh and Naresh Gurjar by paying around Rs 23 lakh. Overall, this entire scam is said to be worth around Rs 74 lakh.

How to get internship in medical colleges

On the basis of fake certificates, these doctors got internship in different government medical colleges of Rajasthan. These include medical colleges of Dausa, Hanumangarh and Alwar. Along with this, he had also got temporary registration done in Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC), which gave him the right to practice.

How did the whole racket work?

SOG’s investigation has revealed that this entire network was working in an organized manner. The mastermind of this racket is said to be Bhanaram Mali, who used to get fake FMG certificates prepared by charging Rs 20 to 30 lakh per person. For this, many middlemen were active, who connected the candidates who had done MBBS from abroad but failed in the FMG exam to this network.

More than 100 doctors under investigation

According to IG (SOG) Ajaypal Lamba, more than 100 people associated with this racket have been identified, who may have obtained medical registration through fake FMG certificates. Many of these doctors are currently doing internship in different medical colleges. Investigation has also revealed that the role of some RMC employees is also suspicious.

Arrests have already been made

SOG has already taken major action in this matter. So far, 17 doctors have been arrested, and some officers and employees of Rajasthan Medical Council have also come under the ambit of investigation. It also includes the names of the then Registrar, UDC and LDC level employees.

Serious questions on medical system

This entire fraud has raised serious questions on the medical education and licensing system of the country. Experts believe that such cases pose a direct threat to patient safety as doctors enter the system without the proper qualifications.

Further investigation continues

SOG has clarified that this investigation is still ongoing and more arrests may be made in the coming days. The agency is also trying to find out to which states this network is spread outside Rajasthan.
