Fake IB officer arrested in Katihar, used to cheat with fake emails and government documents
Katihar Police of Bihar has arrested a criminal who cheated people by pretending to be an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer. The accused used to extort money from people by creating fake email IDs and fake government documents. The arrested accused has been identified as Azhar Ansari, 29, resident of Utrauli village of Revatipur police station area of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. Kodha police station arrested him. An FIR has been registered in this regard at Kodha police station.
According to the police, the accused used to deceive people by pretending to be a senior IB officer. Investigation has revealed that he used to create fake IB email ID. He used to scare people by sending government letters through the same email. The accused also used to prepare fake copies of confidential documents. He used to create fake government and legal documents through computer and other electronic means and show them to the people. On the basis of these fake documents, he used to win people’s trust and then extort money from them.

Police had received secret information that a young man in Kodha area was cheating people by pretending to be an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer. After this, a team was formed under the leadership of Kodha police station incharge Kunal Kumar and action was started. The team included SI Vivek Vikram, SI Gopal Kumar and other policemen. The police raided and arrested the accused.
Many fake documents found from the accused
During the arrest, the police recovered many suspicious documents and electronic evidence from the accused. The recovered items included fake IB letter pads, photo copies of government seals, fake identity cards and several mobile phones. The police is now examining all these documents. Police officials believe that the accused was not working alone. Its strings may be connected to other states also. That is why the police is busy connecting the links of the entire network.

Kodha police is still continuously interrogating the accused. During investigation, it is being ascertained who else are involved in his network. How many people has he targeted so far? Police have seized the mobile and other electronic devices of the accused. These will be sent for forensic investigation. This is expected to expose the entire fraud racket. After this matter came to light, Kodha police has appealed to the common people to remain alert. Police say that nowadays thugs are adopting new methods. Someone pretends to be a bank officer, someone is a customs officer and someone is an IB officer who scares and cheats people.
