Mumbai, 15 September 2026: Bollywood veteran and Guinness World Record holder famous lyricist Sameer Anjaan has recently strongly criticized the current state of music in the film industry and Aditya Dharani's film 'Dhurandhar'. During an interview, he spoke openly about the decline of music in the film industry, half-baked remakes of old songs and the real reasons behind singer Arijit Singh leaving the industry.
Sameer Anjaan said, “Only the things which are of good quality last for a long time. That is why even after 100 years, people will still listen to old songs.” While sharing the story of his conversation with a producer, he said that the producer has employed only youth in his office, but has not given even a single superhit album in the last 5-6 years. Sameer clarified, “I am not saying that youth do not have talent, but when experienced old people and new young minds work together then only the best results are achieved.”
Taking a dig at Ranveer Singh's film 'Dhurandhar', Sameer said, “Nowadays music has been reduced to just a background score. In 'Dhurandhar The Revenge' the famous song 'Hum Pyaar Karne Wale, Duniya Se Na Darne Wale' written by me has been remade, but there is shooting and fighting going on on the screen! What kind of musical composition is this?” Referring to the teaser of Ajay Devgan's film 'Chauhan', he also said that during the action scene, 'Jumma Chumma' is playing in the background, which is spoiling the fun of the music.

Why did Arijit Singh leave the industry?
Talking about Arijit Singh, Sameer revealed, “There is nothing new in Arijit Singh leaving the industry in shock. All the work had become the same for him. The sound and music of most of the songs seemed to be the same and he was not getting any variety in his singing. In our times, Udit Narayan and other singers used to get the opportunity to sing different types of songs.”
Sameer Anjaan is a very successful lyricist of Bollywood, who has written more than 4500 songs. In 2015, he was recognized by Guinness World Records as the lyricist who has written the most songs in Bollywood. He is the son of famous lyricist Lalji Pandey 'Anjaan'. He has won the Filmfare Award 3 times in his career and has given memorable songs in superhit films like 'Aashiqui', 'Dil', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' and 'Tere Naam'.
