One of the biggest challenges in cancer treatment is that while the medicine kills cancer cells, it can also harm healthy cells. In an attempt to reduce this problem, scientists from IASST and IIT-Guwahati have developed a new medicine, named RK-251.
This medicine has been designed in such a way that it shows more effect by recognizing the special environment inside the cancer cells. In initial lab research, RK-251 has shown good effects on aggressive cells of triple-negative breast cancer. However, it cannot currently be used in the treatment of patients and further investigation is needed regarding its effect and safety on humans.
