Fatehpur railway station is ready with new form of development
Bureau Prayagraj- Situated between the holy rivers Ganga and Yamuna, Fatehpur has long been a major hub of travelers and business activities due to its strategic location between Prayagraj and Kanpur. This station is the oldest railway section of North India and one of the major railway stations located between the cities of Prayagraj and Kanpur, whose history is linked to the opening of this railway section in the year 1859. The station is historically significant because it served as the departure point for one of the region’s earliest rail services.
Located on the Delhi-Howrah main line, one of the busiest and most important rail corridors in India, this station continues to serve as an important transportation hub for millions of passengers. Giving a new identity to this historical and social importance, Fatehpur Railway Station has been comprehensively redeveloped at a cost of about ₹ 32 crore under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The redeveloped station is no longer just a stopping point for trains but offers a new experience of modern, safe and passenger-centric rail travel. The attractive station building, new G+1 second entry, spacious concourse, modern waiting hall, advanced ticketing system, developed circulating area, well-organized parking and separate entry-exit routes make the movement of passengers more seamless and organized than before.
To further improve passenger amenities, construction of high level platform no. 4, modernization of platforms, new shelters, 12 meter wide foot over bridge, additional FOB and accessible infrastructure have been developed for the convenience of disabled people and senior citizens. Modern passenger information systems, better lighting and well-maintained premises make the station future-proof.
This new look of Fatehpur Railway Station is not just an expansion of the infrastructure, but is a symbol of a new thinking developed keeping the convenience, safety and respect of passengers at the center. This station will also give a new impetus to tourism, trade and local economy by strengthening the better rail connectivity system of the region.
