Father becomes son's murderer due to superstition! 10 year old Karan was thrown on the altar of the goddess, then slept near the dead body.

Gujarat Crime News: A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. In Vinchhiya village of Sanand taluka, a father is accused of killing his own 10-year-old son. According to the police, the accused allegedly threw the child on the ground several times in front of the altar of the goddess in the house and then hit him on the head with a stick. After this he slept on the cot near the child’s dead body. The incident came to light when a neighbor called the child’s mother and informed her about it. The police have arrested the accused father and the matter is being investigated.

When the mother went to her parents’ home, she left the son with his father.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Naresh Patel. He is an agricultural labourer. There was a fight with his wife Bharatiben about some issue about 10 days ago, after which she had gone to her maternal home. Since her son Karan was in school, she left him with his father. Only father and son were present in the house at the time of the incident. On Sunday night, a neighbor called Bharatiben and informed her about the incident that happened with her son. After this she reached the village at around 9.30 pm. The son’s body was lying on the cot in the house in a blood soaked condition. There were injury marks on his forehead. According to the police, the accused was also lying on the same cot and there was blood on his clothes.

Allegation of throwing son in front of goddess’s altar

According to Bharatiben’s complaint, when she asked her husband about the death of their son, he said that he had sacrificed the son in front of the altar of the goddess. It has been alleged in the complaint that Naresh held the child by his legs and threw him on the ground two to three times and then hit him on the head with a stick. According to the police, the accused also told the wife that he did this so that no one in the family would become ‘Bhuva’. The accused allegedly said this by linking it to the old tradition of his family.

What is ‘Bhuva’, regarding which there are claims of murder?

In the local tradition, ‘Bhuva’ is a person who, according to the beliefs of the community, plays the role of a mediator or ritualist between the gods and the people. According to the complaint, Naresh’s father was also ‘Bhuva’ and he later took over this role. The accused reportedly said that he did not want any other family member to take up this role after him. However, this is the reason given by the accused behind the murder. This cannot be considered as the proven cause of the incident. Police are investigating all aspects of the case. According to Inspector Jaiprakash Chauhan of Sanand Police Station, after receiving information about the incident, the police arrested the accused. A case of murder has been registered in the matter and investigation has been started. Police are also gathering information about the mental condition of the accused. At present, the circumstances behind the murder and the claims of the accused are being investigated.

Suspicious case of human sacrifice had come to light earlier also in Gujarat.
