FBI Stops Alleged Plot Against White House UFC Event
Federal authorities say they thwarted a planned attack targeting the high-profile UFC event hosted at the White House over the weekend, according to newly unsealed court records.
The mixed martial arts spectacle, held on the South Lawn and attended by President Donald Trump during his 80th birthday celebrations, was reportedly the focus of a violent conspiracy involving multiple individuals across several states.
Court documents indicate that investigators disrupted the alleged scheme before it could advance further, preventing what officials described as a potentially deadly attack.
FBI Director Kash Patel praised the rapid response by federal and local agencies.
“Thanks to the rapid action of the FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold,” Patel said in a statement posted on social media.
Encrypted Messages Detailed Attack Plans
According to the court filings, approximately 20 individuals communicated through encrypted messaging platforms and exchanged detailed maps of the White House grounds.
The group allegedly discussed establishing safe houses, planning escape routes, and coordinating attacks during the event.
Investigators said some participants talked about deploying drones carrying explosives and shooting people as crowds fled the scene.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed how close the suspects came to executing their plans, but the FBI learned of the threat on June 10—just four days before the event took place.
The swift investigation culminated in a series of arrests across several states.
Ohio Teen Among Those Arrested
Among those taken into custody was 19-year-old Tycen Proper of Ohio.
According to an FBI affidavit, Proper’s mother alerted local law enforcement after becoming concerned about his firearms purchases and online activities.
During interviews with investigators, Proper allegedly admitted to participating in attack planning.
He now faces several charges, including attempted murder of an officer or employee of the United States.
An attorney representing Proper did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Group Ideology Raised Concerns
Court documents suggest members of the group shared extremist beliefs and expressed dissatisfaction with the direction of the country.
The FBI affidavit stated:
“Members of the group believed that the United States needed to be torn down so that it could be rebuilt.”
Investigators said some participants also referenced convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and expressed opposition to individuals they believed were connected to him holding positions of power.
The group reportedly communicated through a TikTok chat known as “Vanguard of the Old,” which authorities say began operating in March.
Federal officials continue investigating whether additional individuals may have been involved.
Trump Unaware of the Alleged Plot
President Donald Trump, who attended the UFC event and celebrated his birthday during the festivities, told reporters at the G7 summit in France that he had not been briefed on the alleged threat.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns surrounding major public events involving political leaders and large crowds.
Federal authorities have not indicated whether any additional threats remain active but emphasized that the operation successfully prevented violence before it occurred.
The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare further proceedings against those arrested.
