To increase the facilities for the people going to UP Bihar around Chhath Puja and Diwali, Railways has decided to run special trains. Not only UP Bihar but people going to West Bengal and North East will also benefit from the running of these trains. Howrah-Raxaul, Sealdah-Patna, Sealdah-Sitamarhi and Sealdah-Gorakhpur. - Asansol-Gorakhpur — 7 pairs of special trains
- Malda Town-Digha — 7 pairs of special trains
According to the Railways, the aim of these services is to reduce the increasing crowd in trains during festivals and to provide additional options to the passengers to reach home.

Railways has also proposed special trains on many routes connecting different parts of the country. These include routes like Prayagraj to Udhna, Prayagraj to Sabarmati, Subedarganj to Dadar, Prayagraj to Veraval, Kanpur to Kolkata, Agra to Kolkata and Jhansi to Asansol.
Apart from this, additional train services have also been arranged on many routes connecting Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, South India and North-East India.
