In the last 16 match against Egypt, Argentina’s exit seemed almost certain. Egypt led 2–0 just 11 minutes before stoppage time in the second half. But then the most exciting comeback was seen in the tournament. Cristian Romero scored in the 79th minute, Messi added the second goal four minutes later and Enzo Fernandez scored the decisive goal two minutes into stoppage time.

The team also had to struggle against Switzerland

Even in the quarter-finals against Switzerland, Argentina had to fight through extra time to win. Julian Alvarez scored the decisive goal in the 112th minute. After this, in the last moments, Lautaro Martínez scored a goal and took the Argentine team to the semi-finals with a 3–1 victory. And now again he made a comeback in the same manner against England.
