FIR in Delhi Police against Meta India: Action on child abuse and objectionable content India and abroad – REVOI

New Delhi, 11 November 2026: Taking major action, Delhi Police has registered a complaint in the serious matter of finding objectionable and sexual exploitation related material related to children on social media platforms of Meta India. National Human Rights Commission member Priyanka Kanungo has given official information in this regard by posting on the social media platform 'X'.

Priyank Kanungo has clarified in his post that Delhi Police has registered this case after the clear instructions and strict stance given by the National Human Rights Commission. This legal step has been taken after the availability of material related to sexual exploitation of children on Metana platform came to light. After these cases have come to light, serious questions have been raised on the system of monitoring and removing objectionable content related to children on Meta India's social media platforms. Now the investigation by Delhi Police will clarify how such illegal content became available on the platform and what steps were taken by the company to stop it.

It is noteworthy that earlier on July 3, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights had issued summons/notice to Meta on the issue of advertisements containing content related to exploitation of children and sought clarification in this matter. A week after receiving this notice, Meta had submitted its reply.
