New Delhi: A major accident was averted at Nampally railway station in Hyderabad on Friday (15 May 2026) evening. Two AC coaches of Jaipur bound Hyderabad-Jaipur Special Express suddenly caught fire. It is fortunate that there were no casualties in this incident.

Flames flared up before departure

According to media reports, according to railway officials, the train was to leave for Jaipur at 7 pm. Just minutes before departure, smoke and flames started rising from the B1 and B2 coaches of the 3-tier AC compartment. The passengers and staff present on the platform immediately informed about this.

Three fire engines brought it under control

As soon as the alert was received, the fire brigade team reached the spot. Three fire engines started working quickly and brought the fire under control. Due to timely action, the fire did not spread to the rest of the coach.

Coaches were empty, big loss averted

Officials said there were no passengers in B1 and B2 coaches when the fire broke out. Preparations were going on for the train to depart, so most of the people were on the platform or sitting in another coach. The alert railway staff immediately evacuated the nearby coaches. Due to his promptness, there was no stampede and all the passengers remained safe.

The reason will be known after investigation

At present the reason for the fire is not clear. There is a suspicion of short circuit, but railway officials will be able to say something only after detailed investigation. The technical team is examining the coach. After the incident, the train was dispatched by shifting the passengers to other bogies. According to the Railways, there was no loss of life or property due to alertness and prompt response. If the fire had spread at a busy station like Nampally, the situation could have worsened. At present the situation at the station is normal.
