First Muslim US Senator Abdul El-Sayed is a Taylor Swift fan

Abdul El-Sayed is a proud Taylor Swift fan and that has reflected in his election campaign.

El-Sayed just became the first ever Muslim American to win the Senate elections in US history.

The 41-year-old, who was born to Egyptian immigrants, campaigned for the 2026 mid term elections which included fun strategies which made his younger fanbase resonate with him.

One of his most-viewed TikTok videos is of himself dancing to Taylor’s hit You Belong With Me dressed in American-flag printed cowboy hat, jeans, and his signature black V-neck shirt.

The video included him changing lyrics of the iconic hit too taking jabs at his opponent, Republican candidate Mike Rigers.

The video has racked up 5.7 million views and more than 700,000 likes.

One user wrote “Michigan Swifties unite!!!! Proudly voting for you sir”. Another said “LMAO NOT MILLENNIAL SWIFTIE IN MY POLITICS SIGN ME UP.”

The physician-turned-politician is a real Swiftie as he spoke on Liz Plank’s Boy Problems podcast, saying “She is one of the most self-understanding artists of our time.”

Taylor herself has been a vocal supporter of the Republicans as she endorsed Rep candidates for Presidential elections in the past.
