Flipkart Delivery Agent Arrested After Bengaluru Woman Alleges Harassment
Bengaluru: A Flipkart delivery executive has been arrested after a Bengaluru woman alleged that he forcibly entered her apartment under the pretext of using her washroom and made an obscene gesture inside her home, triggering widespread outrage on social media and raising concerns over customer safety.
According to the woman’s account, the delivery executive arrived at her apartment to deliver a parcel and repeatedly requested permission to use her washroom. She said she refused multiple times, explaining that she does not allow strangers into her home, and suggested that he seek assistance from male neighbours living next door if it was an emergency.
Despite her repeated refusals, the woman alleged that the delivery agent removed his slippers, entered her flat without permission and later made an obscene gesture before leaving. She said the incident left her traumatised.
Following her complaint and social media posts, Bengaluru Police registered a case at the Marathahalli Police Station and arrested the accused, identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamath. Police booked him under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to sexual harassment, insulting the modesty of a woman.
Flipkart said it was aware of the incident and was cooperating with the police investigation. The company also stated that it has a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
