India Myanmar Border Trade: Big news has come out regarding India-Myanmar relations. Preparations are underway to restart the border trade between India and Myanmar which has been closed for almost 6 years. This trade will take place through Pangsau Pass. Border trade is going to resume from July 20 after the meeting between the trade organizations of the two countries on July 9.
Border trade between the two countries took place under the free movement regime. In this, people living within a radius of 10 kilometers on both sides of the border are allowed to do cross-border transactions and local business.
Business was closed due to Covid epidemic
Let us tell you, border trade between the two countries was closed on February 3, 2020 due to the Covid epidemic. Now after about 6 years, it has been decided to reopen the border trade between the two countries. On July 9, a meeting was held between local business representatives of the two countries in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. In this meeting, a decision was taken to restart both the border trade.
Border trade will strengthen the local economy
Jongkham Morang, president of an Indian local trade organization, spoke to the media regarding border trade. On the question of resumption of border trade, he said that this step will bring back our livelihoods lost during the Covid pandemic. Local MLA Lassam Simai also supported border trade, saying it would open up business opportunities for local people. Besides, the livelihood of the residents and small traders will also improve. This will strengthen the local economy.
Update on India-China border trade
Along with India-Myanmar border trade, a new update has also come out on India-China border trade. According to media reports, despite official consent regarding border trade between India and China, the trade has not started yet. More than a month has passed. This trade will happen through Lipulekh Pass.

According to the information received, regarding trade, Indian businessmen have been asked by Chinese officials to wait till the completion of the new warehouse and market under construction in Taklakot, Tibet. Trade between China and India through Lipulekh Pass has been closed since 2020 due to Covid-19. Now there is a plan to start it again after a long gap of about six years.
