Mayweather, 49, treats the upcoming matchup on Dec. 19 as preparation for a 2027 showdown with WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia. He took to social media to declare the Bangkok bout a “tune-up” before the fight with Garcia.

Floyd’s background has also drawn public attention. Before pursuing a career in the ring, he worked as a stripper and led a motorcycle gang.
According to Boxing Newshe spent much of his youth behind bars, where he reportedly spent years training in front of a mirror in his cell to develop an unpredictable fighting style. Following his release from prison, he opened a gym in Perth named Pinky’s, where he trains while coaching others, expressing a strong desire to help underprivileged youth find a positive path through sports.
Previously, he had sought a bout with Tommy Fury, the younger brother of Tyson Fury, to boost his profile and move closer to top-tier opponents.
Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all time. He boasts a perfect 50-0 professional record and won world titles in five different weight classes. He also participated in four of the five highest-grossing boxing matches in history, against Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor. From the fight against Pacquiao alone, Mayweather reportedly pocketed US$300 million.
Despite officially retiring from professional boxing after beating Conor McGregor in 2017, Mayweather has continued to earn lucrative sums through a series of exhibition bouts.
According to Yahoo Sportsthis series generated approximately $80 million for him, though this figure remains an estimate, as the specific purses and revenue-sharing arrangements for each fight were never fully disclosed.
At the peak of his career, Mayweather’s fights generated roughly $2.7 billion in total revenue. He currently ranks among the highest-earning athletes in modern sports history, though recent reports suggest his billion-dollar empire has faced various financial problems and legal disputes.
