Pune Police Commissioner (CP) Amitesh Kumar, while disclosing this sensational case, said that the 41-year-old victim, a resident of Sinhagarh Road and working in a senior position in a renowned company of the city, gathered courage and lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday night. As soon as the complaint was received, the team of Pune City Crime Branch immediately took action and exposed this dirty business by raiding a luxurious bungalow located in Ubale Nagar.

Along with Mishra, the police have also arrested his male associate Kanwal Nayan and six female associates. The court has sent all these accused on police remand till June 20. Police Commissioner said that this fake Baba is originally from Haryana, but was camping in this bungalow in Pune for the last eight years and was running his so-called ashram from here. The surprising thing is that the victim’s family also hails from Haryana and her father is a reputed doctor.

The arrested Baba Mishra used to call himself the form of God and was physically, mentally and sexually harassing the woman for the last 15 years. The victim alleges that Baba raped her repeatedly. The limit reached when he even forced the woman to drink his urine and gave her electric shocks when she refused to obey. Not only this, Baba cunningly transferred the entire property of the woman to his name and forced her to divorce her husband in order to destroy her house.

Doctor took advantage of father’s faith, made family his enemy

The accused Baba took disgusting advantage of the superstition and unwavering trust of the woman’s family members. He impressed upon the family that their daughter was dishonest and of bad character, due to which the victim’s parents themselves turned against her. Ultimately, when all limits of oppression were crossed, the victim showed courage and somehow escaped from the Ubale Nagar bungalow. After reaching home, when he tearfully told the story of this brutality that happened to him, the family’s superstition was removed. After this the whole family reached the police station. According to Additional Police Commissioner (Crime) Tejashwi Satpute, as soon as the case was registered, the bungalow was raided without wasting any time.

Case registered in Kharadi police station, sections imposed to eliminate black magic

A case has been registered in this matter at Kharadi Police Station, Pune. These horrific crimes against women were being committed continuously in Haryana and Pune between 2001 and 2026. The police have invoked extremely stringent sections against the accused under the ‘Maharashtra Prevention and Abolition of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act’ along with sexual harassment and criminal conspiracy.

During the investigation, the police recovered a huge amount of electronic equipment and cash from the bungalow. Police Commissioner said that Baba used to call women with the pretext of solving their family, financial or health related problems in a moment and then made them victims of his lust. During the search operation, the police seized 19 hard disks, 12 laptops, one tablet, 11 mobile phones, huge quantity of DVD-CDs, 23 pen drives, gold jewelery worth Rs 15 lakh, Rs 6.5 lakh in cash and some suspicious pills from the bungalow. The police were shocked when they came to know that to escape from the police, Baba had built a secret underground tunnel inside the bungalow, through which he was trying to escape.

Asked for private video after marriage, blackmailed and got divorce

Police investigation revealed that the victim woman was living a hostage-like life in that bungalow for a long time. Mishra used to exploit him in the name of testing him. When the woman wanted to get out of this hell and start her new life, Baba himself arranged her marriage through a matrimonial website, but asked her to run away before the marriage so that she would fall further in the eyes of her family. After this Baba demanded a very personal and private video of the woman and her husband. On the basis of those videos, he started blackmailing the woman and finally got her divorced. Finally, fed up, the woman broke the CCTV cameras installed there and ran away to save her life.

Government lawyer Vijay Kadam argued in the court that the accused has many obscene videos of the woman, for whose recovery police custody is very important. The Police Commissioner has expressed apprehension that there are lakhs of devotees of this fake Baba spread all over Maharashtra including many states of North India, who used to come here continuously. At present, the police is also investigating whether this Baba has made other women his victims as well.
