Amid the ongoing campaign against drugs in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Ganderbal Police in Central Kashmir have cracked a sensational conspiracy in which a woman’s alleged former lover is suspected of plotting to falsely implicate her husband in a narcotic case.
Although the former lover has been arrested by the police, the woman’s suspected role is also under investigation as cops investigate all aspects.
Keeping in view the ongoing campaign against narcotics, the former lover made an abortive attempt to implicate his ex-girlfriend’s husband in a narco-terror case.
Realising that authorities are taking all narcotics cases very seriously, the accused tried to seize this opportunity to falsely implicate his ex-girlfriend’s husband by supplying drugs through a courier in his name and address.
Reports said the case surfaced after Police Station Safapora in Ganderbal received information about the delivery of a drug consignment through a courier. Acting swiftly, police intercepted the consignment, which had been shipped from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The package was found to contain a substantial quantity of cocaine, charas, and diclofenac tablets.
The consignee, a poultry businessman, initially appeared to have no connection with the contraband. During sustained questioning, he disclosed that he had been contacted through an unknown number and lured into receiving what he was told were poultry-feed samples. Instead, the package contained narcotic substances.
As investigators began probing the case, it took a sensational turn. The investigation revealed that the consignee had married last year and that his wife had allegedly remained in contact with a former lover. Police suspect that the alleged lover, with the possible involvement or knowledge of the wife, conspired to plant drugs on the husband and have him falsely implicated in a narcotics case, apparently to remove an obstacle to their relationship.
Following these leads, Ganderbal Police detained a suspect from Zainakot in Srinagar. During questioning, the suspect allegedly disclosed his involvement in the conspiracy and provided important leads regarding the role of other persons.
Police are now investigating the precise roles of the wife, her alleged lover and other conspirators, including a person from Kanpur who is suspected to be connected with the procurement and dispatch of the contraband.
The investigation is focused on establishing the complete conspiracy chain—from the procurement and dispatch of the drugs to their intended planting on the victim—as well as the motive behind the alleged conspiracy. Further arrests and recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses.
