Former New Zealand cricketer Mitchell made a big revelation regarding Dhoni’s playing, MS made an effort in the nets

Mumbai Former New Zealand cricketer Mitchell McClenaghan has suggested that Chennai Super Kings should use wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni as an impact sub. Especially when the team is chasing the target. Dhoni has not been able to play in four matches so far due to calf strain. The veteran cricketer did some light practice in the nets before CSK’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, but his chances of playing in this match are slim. The special thing is that he faced only throwdown.

Mitchell McClenaghan said that if MS Dhoni is fit to play then Chennai Super Kings should use him as an impact player. He told that with this role, Dhoni will be able to focus on scoring runs quickly and aggressively without running around too much. This will strengthen the lower middle order of the team and will also help them get their rhythm back. If the team management feels that they need to score some faster runs from Dhoni. Bringing him in as an impact sub will allow them to make the most of his batting abilities, especially when they are chasing. Playing as an impact player will mean that he will not have to run around much. He can just come on the field and take the ball across the boundary and perform his finisher job brilliantly. When Chennai is chasing big scores, his aggressive batting ability will come in handy for the team. McClenaghan further said that I think this is a great way to get Dhoni back into rhythm. His presence will really strengthen CSK’s lower middle order. Out of the four matches played so far in IPL 2026, CSK has been able to win only one match. After facing three consecutive defeats, CSK broke its losing streak by defeating Delhi Capitals by 23 runs.
