Former PM Sher Bahadur Deuba: Former Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba returned to Kathmandu after undergoing treatment abroad for about 6 months. Deuba, who was injured in the attack during the Gen-Z movement, was given a grand welcome by Nepali Congress leaders and workers. 80-year-old Deuba was warmly welcomed by party leaders and workers at Tribhuvan International Airport. A large number of these workers were also present at the airport to welcome Deuba.

Earlier, during the violent protests of September 2025, his residence was attacked by a mob, in which he and his wife Arzoo Rana Deuba were injured. On September 9, his house was attacked by a mob of protesters. During this, Deuba and his wife Arju Rana Deuba suffered serious injuries. Both of them also suffered head injuries. After this both of them went out of Nepal for treatment.

He is under legal investigation due to anti-corruption action and money laundering cases in the country, although the Supreme Court has granted relief on his arrest warrant.

Deuba's return to Nepal comes at a time when the national conference of the non-establishment faction of the Nepali Congress is to be held in Kathmandu from August 14 to 16. Deuba will address this gathering on Friday. His return and the national gathering are taking place at a time when there is controversy within the Nepali Congress regarding changes in the party leadership and organization.
