Former SDOP KK Verma, posted in Saunsar of Pandhurna district, has been arrested from Bhopal. A woman has accused him of raping her several times on the pretext of marriage when she was SDOP. On the complaint registered three years after his retirement, the police have registered a case under the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and SST-X and have brought the accused to Pandhurna and started investigation.
What is the whole matter?
A 31-year-old woman has alleged that the former SDOP raped her several times between 2017 and 2023 on the pretext of marriage. According to the woman, when she protested, she and her family were threatened with death.
The woman told the police that she became acquainted with the accused in 2017. At that time, a case of assault against a member of his family was registered at Umranala police station. SDOP KK Verma was the investigating officer of this case.
According to the woman, during the investigation of the case, KK Verma used to talk to her frequently on phone and he also visited her house several times. The woman has said in her complaint that the accused maintained constant contact with her through mobile.

The woman told that after some time the accused started pressurizing her to have physical relations. When he protested, he and his family were threatened with death. According to the woman, the accused forcibly had sex with her several times at her official residence. During this period, he was abused and beaten several times. The woman also said in her complaint that the accused assured her of marrying him.

Maintained contact even after transfer
The woman claimed that the accused kept in touch with her after he was transferred to Seoni in 2018 and called her there and had physical relations with her. One year in 2019, the accused was transferred to Bhopal, even after this he remained in touch with him.
According to the woman, the accused assured her that he would marry her after retirement. When he retired in 2023, he went back on his word. After this the woman decided to complain to the police.
In the complaint, the woman also accused KK Verma of making casteist remarks. According to the woman, she is from Scheduled Caste while the accused is from general category. Police have registered a case under sections 376(2)(n), 376(2)(k)(i), 377, 506, 3(1)(w)(ii) and 3(2)(v) of the SC-ST Act and other relevant sections.
