The foundation stone of the new building of Shri Gokuleshwar Secondary School was laid on Monday in Shalyashikhar Municipality-9 of Darchula district, a remote and hilly area of ​​Nepal. This initiative is being considered a very important step towards strengthening the educational infrastructure in the Himalayan country.

This important foundation stone laying ceremony was jointly led by Basist Nandan, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Bijay Singh Dhami, Mayor of Shalyashikhar Municipality. This new school building is being constructed with financial assistance of approximately 75 million Nepali Rupees (NPR) under the ‘High Impact Community Development Project’ (HICDP) framework of the Government of India. This project is being implemented directly through Shalyashikhar Municipality.

The special thing is that this is the 11th HICDP project of its kind in Darchula district, which reflects India’s continued focus on accelerating infrastructure and development work in the areas of Far Western Province. Addressing the program, Mayor Bijay Singh Dhami and local stakeholders highly appreciated the developmental support being provided by the Government of India. He said that with the development of these modern facilities, the learning environment for the students and teachers of the area will be much better.

According to officials, the creation of new facilities in Shri Gokuleshwar Secondary School will solve the problems like less classrooms, limited infrastructure and lack of resources. This will not only ease access to education, but will also improve student enrollment and retention.
