Now AI will tell how clean the railway bedsheet is, a big step by Indian Railways regarding bedrolls available in AC coaches.

AC Coach Bedroll: Those traveling in Indian Railways know that the facility of bedsheets, pillow covers and towels is provided in their AC coaches to make the journey easier for the passengers, but many times a question comes in people’s mind regarding their cleanliness. Now for this, Indian Railways has come up with a hi-tech solution to your concern.

It is seen that for the first time, Railways has started using Artificial Intelligence based technology to provide cleaner and better linen to the passengers. After which now smart cameras will check whether there are any stains left on the sheets or pillow covers after washing and whether the cleaning has been done as per the prescribed standards or not.

AI cameras will check every bedsheet

Let us tell you that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told in the Rajya Sabha that at present this AI based stain detection system has been started as a pilot project in the mechanized laundries of Pune division of Central Railway and Jaipur and Jodhpur division of North Western Railway. Under the new technology, AI cameras installed in the laundry will analyze the pictures of bedsheets, pillow covers and other linens after washing. If there is any stain or dirt left on the clothes, the system will immediately identify and separate it. This will enable poor quality linen to be sorted out before it reaches the passengers.

Double monitoring will be done with CCTV and Whiteo-Meter.

It is seen that Railways has not relied only on AI technology. In this, CCTV cameras have also been installed in mechanized laundries across the country so that the entire washing process can be monitored. Apart from this, the quality of cleaning is also being checked with the help of Vito-Meter machines to ensure that every linen is clean as per the set standards.

What is found in Bedroll and what has changed?

In the information given by Railways, it has been said that in each bedroll pack of AC coach, passengers are given two bedsheets, one pillow cover and one hand towel. In these, one sheet is for laying on the seat while the other is used between the blanket and the body so that the blanket does not come in direct contact with the body. This blanket cover sheet is washed after every use. To increase the convenience of passengers, Railways has also started the initiative of providing blanket cover. But for now, this facility is being provided to all AC passengers in North Western Railway trains and Kamakhya-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper train which has received positive response from the passengers.

Apart from this, the Railway Minister also said that Railways regularly reviews each linen as per its prescribed usage period. The bedsheet, pillow cover or other linen which is no longer usable is replaced timely as per the rules. It is believed that with the use of AI technology, the cleaning system of railways will become more transparent and reliable in future.
