‘Fragrance of culture in the air of Indonesia’, PM Modi reached Prambanan temple during his Indonesia tour

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Indonesia on Wednesday to visit the world famous Prambanan temple complex in Yogyakarta during a three-day visit. Along with this, both the leaders jointly inaugurated the conservation and restoration project in this historical Hindu temple included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi has described the shared cultural heritage between India and Indonesia as the biggest strength of both the countries. Now the pictures of this tour are also becoming increasingly viral on social media.

Let us tell you, after visiting the temple complex, Prime Minister Modi said that "The fragrance of culture is in the air of Indonesia." Describing India’s participation in the conservation work of Prambanan Temple as a matter of pride, he said that this project will give new strength to the historical and cultural relations between the two countries. During the joint statement, the Prime Minister said that President Prabowo Subianto has assured to complete the restoration work of the temple before the year 2029. He expressed confidence that the project will be completed within the stipulated time and that he will come back to Indonesia to celebrate that achievement.

What is the history of Prambanan Temple?

Actually, Prambanan Temple is considered to be the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia. Built in the 10th century, this temple is mainly dedicated to Lord Shiva, while there are also grand temples of Lord Vishnu and Brahma in the complex. The excellent carvings of scenes related to the epic Ramayana on the walls of the temple make its architecture special. Located about 17 kilometers from Yogyakarta city, this site attracts a large number of tourists and devotees from all over the world every year.

Bilateral talks held before temple visit

According to the information, before the temple visit, bilateral talks were also held between Prime Minister Modi and President Subianto. Many important topics like defence, agriculture, digital cooperation and strengthening democratic institutions were discussed in the meeting. Along with this, both the countries also signed an MoU for the export of customized Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) based on Indian technology. Apart from this, discussions were also held on increasing partnership in various fields including BrahMos missile under defense cooperation.

Let us tell you, this visit of Prime Minister Modi is the first phase of the tour of three countries. After all his official programs in Indonesia, he will leave for Australia for the next leg, after which New Zealand will also be included in his tour.
