For what reasons do you not have to pay?
If your email ID has changed or you haven't linked it with Aadhaar yet, you can update it through the Aadhaar app. The facility aims to help Aadhaar holders keep their contact details up to date and receive important notifications. According to UIDAI, this discount is applicable only for updating email through Aadhaar mobile app.
How to update your email id from your mobile?
1. Download or update the official Aadhaar app on your smartphone.
2. Open the app and login by filling the required information.
3. Select the option to update your email id.
4. Complete the process by filling the required information.
5. Follow the in-app instructions to complete the verification process.
Is every Aadhaar update free?
Note that this discount is applicable for email id update only. Different rules and charges may apply for changing name, date of birth, mobile number or other information in your Aadhaar. The deadline for free online updating of identity and address documents on the myAadhaar portal has been extended till June 14, 2027. So, before making any change in your Aadhaar, please check the relevant service terms and charges on the official website of UIDAI.
