Freeview users who haven’t checked their TV settings for a while may want to give them a quick refresh. The popular TV service announced last week that two new channels, Your TV and Your TV Extra, were launching. That wasn’t the only update, with a number of other channels also getting name changes, including That’s Classics (ch93) becoming Your Music.
Now there’s another swap, with Freeview confirming that festive TV is returning to screens ahead of December.
Yes, it might only be August, but anyone desperate for some early Xmas cheer can already tune into Great! Christmas. It’s available right now on channel 52, replacing Great! Romance.
“On 26th August 2026 some broadcasters are making changes to their channels,” Freeview confirmed.
The same boost is also coming to Sky, with customers able to watch via channel 322.
A quick look at the TV guide reveals plenty of festive viewing, with films currently including A Joyous Christmas, Christmas Getaway, Dancing Through Christmas, Mistletoe Over Manhattan and The Magical Christmas Shoe.
Freeview is urging viewers to retune their TVs to make sure they continue receiving all available channels and have the latest TV Guide information.
“You will need to retune to update your TV and keep your channels and TV Guide up to date,” Freeview confirmed.
HERE’S HOW TO RETUNE YOUR TV
Press Menu on your TV or set-top box remote control.
Select ‘Set-up’, ‘Installation’, ‘Update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a PIN, check your TV’s instructions, as the default code can vary by manufacturer.
Select ‘First-time installation’, which may also be called ‘Factory reset’, ‘Full retune’ or ‘Default settings’.
Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks whether you want to delete existing channels. The retune should then start automatically. If prompted, save the channels that are found.
