To make fries more crispy, one important thing should be kept in mind. After cutting the potatoes, it is important to soak them in cold water for some time and then dry them thoroughly. This helps remove excess starch from the potatoes and makes the fries crispier. Let us know the easy recipe to make it.
Ingredients for French Fries
- Potato- 4
- Oil- 2 spoons
- Salt- as per taste
- Red chilli powder – half teaspoon
- Chaat masala – half teaspoon
- Black pepper powder- as per taste
How to make French Fries
First of all, take four potatoes, wash them thoroughly and peel them. Now cut the potatoes lengthwise into thin and uniform sticks. Try to keep all the steaks roughly the same thickness so they cook evenly in the air fryer.
Now put the cut potatoes in a big bowl and soak them in cold water for about 20 to 30 minutes. This process helps in removing excess starch present in the potato. This can make the fries more crispy after cooking.
After this, take out the potatoes from water and dry them thoroughly with the help of a clean kitchen towel or cloth. There should not be any water or excess moisture on the potatoes. If the potatoes remain wet, the fries will not become as crispy on the outside.
Now put the dried potatoes in a bowl. Add about two spoons of oil, salt as per taste, half spoon red chilli powder, half spoon chaat masala and black pepper powder as per taste. Mix all the ingredients well, so that the spices and oil coat all the potato sticks properly.
After this, preheat the air fryer at 180 to 200 degrees Celsius. Now place the potato sticks in the air fryer basket. Be careful not to fill the basket too much. If there are more potatoes, it would be better to cook them in separate batches. Storing too many fries at once prevents hot air from circulating properly and may result in some potatoes remaining raw or less crispy.
Now cook the fries in the air fryer for about 15 to 20 minutes. Take out the basket once or twice in between and shake it lightly. With this, the potatoes will cook evenly from all sides and their color will also be uniform.
When the fries are golden in color and appear crispy on the outside, take them out of the air fryer. If desired, add some chaat masala on top and serve hot.
Keep in mind that the cooking time may be slightly more or less depending on the power of the different air fryers and the size of the potato sticks. If you want to make the fries more crispy, then do not forget to dry the potatoes thoroughly after soaking them in water. Also, avoid overcrowding the fries in the air fryer.
