Following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan over irregularities in the NEET (UG) examination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that a ‘high-powered task force’ headed by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani will be formed to reform examinations in India.

Who is Nandan Nilekani?
Nandan Nilekani is a Padma Shri awardee and renowned Indian entrepreneur, technologist and philanthropist. He is best known as the co-founder of IT giant Infosys. He is also known as the architect of India’s ambitious Aadhaar project. He currently serves as the non-executive chairman of Infosys.
Nandan Nilekani in 1981 N.R. Founded Infosys along with Narayan Murthy and five other partners. He served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Infosys from 2002 to 2007, during which time the company achieved significant global success. In 2017, amid ongoing controversy in the company, he returned to the company and became the non-executive chairman of the board.
Great recognition as a technocrat
The Government of India appointed him as the first Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), where he served as a Cabinet Minister from 2009 to 2014. He was responsible for the design and successful implementation of Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric identification program.

He has played a key role in building India’s digital public infrastructure (such as promoting the UPI payment system and India Stack). The government has constituted a multi-disciplinary expert group to develop technological and structural improvements in NTA examinations. Among the members of the task force is former chairman of ISRO S. Somnath, former ISRO chairman Tapan Deka, IIT Chennai director V. Kamakoti, former education secretary Ankita Karwal and Amrit Lal Meena, who has been appointed as logistics expert.
