Lucknow. There is news of great relief for the teachers and employees associated with the higher education sector of Uttar Pradesh. Taking important steps towards strengthening the health security of teachers, the state government has started ‘Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Medical Facility Scheme’. With the implementation of this scheme, about 1.28 lakh teachers and their dependent families working in universities, non-government aided colleges, self-financed institutions and self-financed courses of the state will get the facility of cashless treatment.
Every family will get health cover up to ₹5 lakh
Under the new scheme, eligible teacher families will be given cashless health cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per year. After the card is issued under the scheme, the beneficiaries will be able to get treatment in the listed government and private hospitals from the very first day. In this facility, the expenses of hospitalization, operation, medicines, investigation and discharge are included in the scope of the scheme, due to which the teachers will not have to spend a huge amount from their pocket for the treatment.
More than 1900 treatment packages will be available
Beneficiaries will get the benefit of more than 1900 medical packages under the scheme. These also include treatment of cancer, heart disease, kidney related diseases, complex surgeries and other serious diseases. The government said that the scheme will be operated through SACHIS and the prescribed rates of Ayushman Bharat will be followed for treatment, so that all the beneficiaries can get transparent and quality health services.
Additional security through agreement with PNB
An important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed with Punjab National Bank during the program. Under this, teachers and non-teaching staff will get many additional security facilities. These include facilities like personal accident insurance up to Rs 1.50 crore, air accident insurance up to Rs 3 crore, hospital cash benefit up to Rs 60 thousand and term life insurance up to Rs 12 lakh. This will provide health as well as financial security to the employees and their families.
