Great performance by Tejaswin Shankar and Divya Deshmukh
India’s star athlete Tejaswin Shankar created history by winning a historic bronze medal in the decathlon event at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He became the first Indian athlete to win a Commonwealth Games medal in this difficult event. At the same time, India’s fourth woman Grandmaster Divya Deshmukh had made the country proud by winning the title of FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025 held in Batumi, Georgia.

Lifetime Arjun to I Arumanayagam
Veteran footballer I Arumanayagam, who was a member of the Indian football team that won the gold medal in the 1962 Asian Games, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Arjuna Award for his contribution to Indian sports. At the same time, athletics coach Parveer Singh, boxing coach Chhote Lal Yadav and shooting coach Neha Nandkumar Chavan have been selected for the Dronacharya Award. Apart from these, experienced boxing coach Dharmendra Singh Yadav and wrestling coach Virendra Kumar will be given the Lifetime Dronacharya Award.
