Game of recovery of Rs 4 crore, Punjab Police Inspector arrested in gangster connection
Inspector Gurinderjit Singh Nagra posted at Tanda police station in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab has been arrested. He is accused of demanding a ransom of 4 lakh dollars i.e. about Rs 4 crore from an Indian family living in America. This case is related to the gang of gangster Jagu Bhagwanpuria. America’s investigating agency FBI has made this big revelation after Nagra’s name came up in its investigation.
According to the investigation, on April 13, 2026, the family of Charanjit Singh, a former police officer living in America, had received a threat. Inspector Nagra called and said that if he was not given 4 lakh dollars, he would implicate his entire family in a murder case in Punjab. This murder took place on January 15, 2026 in Miyani village of Tanda in which Aam Aadmi Party worker Balwinder Singh was killed. Nagra was the one investigating this case and he claimed that he had solved the mystery of the murder. He had also alleged that Charanjit Singh, living in America, had committed this murder due to a dispute over his daughter’s marriage.

Police have said that this recovery work was being done in collaboration with the gang of gangster Jagu Bhagwanpuria. The 44-page FBI report states that the gang members used to collect information about the family in America and give it to officials like Nagra in India. Nagra misused this information and intimidated the family. He was using his police position to help this gang and threaten them to extort money.
When the matter came to light at the international level and American officials reported considering the seriousness of the matter, the Punjab Police also immediately started investigation. DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla investigated and found the evidence, money transactions and statements of witnesses to be correct. He is also accused of making illegal earnings of about Rs 16 lakh. After finding evidence, the police arrested him under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and extortion.

further legal action
Currently in the custody of Nagara police. The police is finding out which other policemen or criminals are involved in this extortion game. American officials are also very strict regarding this matter and they are preparing to call Nagra to America and interrogate him. This case raises serious questions on the working style of the police, a police officer himself was involved in the crime along with the criminals.
