Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Vengsarkar and 21 former captains of the world wrote a letter to the Sharif government for Imran's treatment.

Twenty-one former international cricket captains of the world have appealed to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding proper treatment and health facilities for the jailed former Prime Minister and World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Dilip Vengsarkar are also included in this appeal. This initiative has been taken by former Australian captain Greg Chappell. This is the second letter from former international captains demanding humane treatment and proper medical facilities to Imran Khan.

Concern expressed over news of loss of vision in right eye

The former captains have appealed to the Pakistan government to allow the medical board formed on the instructions of the Supreme Court to complete an independent assessment of Imran Khan's health condition. Imran Khan's personal doctors have also been included in this board. In the letter, concern has been expressed especially over the news of loss of vision in Imran Khan's right eye. The former captains said that a full and independent investigation into his health condition is necessary.




  • Demand for weekly meeting with family also

    The letter also demanded that the weekly family meetings restored by the Supreme Court should continue without any interruption. Along with this, an appeal has been made to provide whatever treatment is recommended in the medical examination without any delay.

    The former captains made it clear that they did not want to interfere in Pakistan's domestic legal process. He says that completing medical procedures under court orders is a matter of human dignity and basic etiquette.

Apart from being the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan has also been the captain of the team that won the Cricket World Cup for the country for the first time in 1992.
