Get off the metro and rent an electric bike right away! Bhago Mobility and Honda's new offering for metro commuters in Delhi

  • Get an electric bike within 5 minutes of getting off the metro: A major initiative by Bhago Mobility®, HMSI and HEID
  • Bhago Mobility partners with Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India and Honda Power Pack Energy India to provide end-to-end transportation for Delhi Metro commuters
  • BhaGoMo – iRide service launched at ITO Metro station, one of the busiest stations in Delhi. Rental facility available on hourly or daily basis

Bhago Mobility in partnership with Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID) today launched the last-mile electric ride service for Delhi Metro commuters. In the first phase of the BhaGoMo® – iRide initiative, the company has focused on ITO Metro Station, one of the busiest metro stations in Delhi. This will fulfill the long standing need of passengers for last leg transport facility. Through BhaGoMo® – iRide, passengers can take onward journeys on a fully charged and connected electric bike within minutes of alighting from the Delhi Metro. Therefore, the journey from the metro station to the desired destination can be completed in an environment-friendly manner. Passengers can join the service through the Bhago app by completing DigiLocker based verification in less than 5 minutes. Replaceable batteries are used in every vehicle. As the battery can be replaced in just 2 minutes, it saves a lot of time required to charge the battery. These batteries can be exchanged through 202 battery exchange centers at around 90 stations in Delhi-NCR.

Bhago plans to open centers at six stations of the Delhi Metro. The selection of these stations has been finalized with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), with the center at ITO now operational as the major hub. The launch of this service further strengthens Bhago Mobility's strategic partnership with Honda's electric mobility ecosystem in India. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India's (HMSI) vehicles, access to energy through the Honda e:Swap network operated by Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID), and the parts platform that manages both — are now connected to India's largest urban rail network. This partnership with DMRC underlines DMRC's core principles of providing safe and environment-friendly transport and connectivity facilities and is a significant extension in the same direction.

Vehicles can be rented for a few hours or for several days. The vehicle can be picked up from the center at the metro station and returned there. Explicit rental plans will be available on the Bhago app. Also, since the battery can be swapped through the Honda E:Swap network, there is no need to worry about charging the battery while travelling. Whether it's a quick commute, a daily commute to the office or a need for a vehicle for multiple days, the entire journey can be facilitated through the same vehicle and the same app.

“The launch of the service at ITO is just the beginning. Bhago and its partners intend to expand this metro hub-based model across the country. We aim to bring this confluence of metro station amenities, Honda-engineered vehicles, battery swapping systems and artificial intelligence-based operations to the metro network and transport hubs in various cities across the country. Our aim is simple: wherever public transport takes people to their desired destinations, the metro entrance is simple, convenient, comfortable, reliable and secure. Bhago should also be inspired by Soichiro Honda's philosophy of 'Yume no Chikara' — the power of dreams. 'Dreams' is our expression of it: world-class Japanese engineering expertise, India's world-class metro network, and a platform that keeps the city running,” said Aditya Goyal, founder of Bhago Mobility.

“This partnership brings together each other's strengths to make electric end-to-end transportation more practical and convenient for everyday commuters. This is a significant step towards meeting the changing urban transportation needs,” said Mr. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Sales & Marketing Director. Mutsuo Usui said.

“Battery swapping systems have already proven their worth for commercial electric vehicle fleets. Now through BhaGoMo – iRide, we are bringing the same Honda e:Swap facility to everyday commuters in Delhi. This launch at ITO is the first step in a partnership that will bring the convenience of Delhi Metro travel to the commuters' final destination,” said Takuya Taniguchi, President and CEO, Honda Power Pack Energy India.

“DMRC is committed to strengthening end-to-end connectivity through safe, convenient and eco-friendly transport solutions. The BhaGoMo – iRide initiative will provide commuters with a sustainable end-to-end transport option and will also contribute to reducing pollution. We welcome this initiative and look forward to extending such eco-friendly facilities to other metro stations,” said DMRC's Director, Operations and Services, Dr. Amit Kumar Jain said.
