Getting passport made will be expensive from July 1, bumper increase in fees

On Thursday, the people of the country got another shock of inflation. In a major decision, the Central Government increased the fees for making passport. Actually, making a passport will become expensive from July 1, 2026. The government has decided to increase the fees by making changes in the passport rules. People will now have to spend more money than before to get both normal and urgent passports made.

 

According to the notification issued by the government, the fee for 36 page passport has been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500, which means applicants will now have to spend Rs 1,000 more. Apart from this, if a person wants to get a passport made under Tatkal service, then he will have to pay Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 3,500.

Standard fee for 60 page passport

While giving information, the government said that the normal fee for 60 page passport has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500. This passport is for those people who travel abroad a lot. At the same time, if you want to get a separate Tatkal passport made, you will have to pay Rs 6,000 instead of Rs 4,000. An increase of Rs 2,000 has been made in this category.

 

 

 

You will have to spend some money for these works also

Apart from this, the government has also made major changes in the charges of Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), Surrender Certificate and other services related to passport. This means that now more fees will have to be paid for other government works also. If your passport is lost or torn and you want a new passport in its place, the fees for the same have also been increased.

In the same notification, the Central Government has maintained the 10% discount on new passport applications given to children up to 8 years of age and senior citizens above 60 years of age as before. Let us tell you that if you want to get a passport made at the old prices, then you can get it made only till 30th June.
