Glee Star Says Fans Made Him ‘Uncomfortable’ Over Darren Criss

A Glee star opened up about how fans perceived it as a documentary rather than fiction. They loved his chemistry with Darren Criss so much that they desperately hoped their relationship was real. He said that this wish from fans made him feel “uncomfortable” and seemingly crossed a boundary for him.

Chris Colfer recalls fans pushing for a real-life relationship with Glee costar Darren Criss

In a conversation with BustleColfer shared that fans who watched Glee seemingly believed that it was a documentary, perceiving his relationship with Criss as real. He mentioned how desperately they all wanted the duo to be together.

He added, “Sometimes those people would cross a line and make me feel a little uncomfortable because they would bring so much of my personal life, or make up stuff about my personal life, to validate whatever story they were writing.” Criss and Colfer played Blaine and Kurt, respectively. Their relationship started off with friendship, with them instantly dating and becoming a fan favorite couple. At some point in the show, they also tie the knot.

Glee is a music series that centers on an optimistic high school teacher who brings together a group of misfit students. With their help, he decides to revive the school’s show choir club and participate in a challenge. The series concluded with Season 6, with the finale premiering on March 20, 2015. While the series ended years ago, there have been recent discussions around its revival. Ryan Murphy earlier teased that he has completed the script for the reboot and had conversations with actors for a potential return.

Colfer also recently addressed whether he would be open to joining the Glee reboot. “I know nothing and have heard absolutely nothing. I wish I did. It was a really tough show to do, and it would be really hard to do it now that Naya [Rivera] is gone. But I do know that Glee fans would probably come after me with pitchforks and jazz hands if I said no. So I don’t know, but hopefully I’ll have more information and I can actually think about it,” he answered.
