Online booking is being introduced instead.
According to sources in the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim, the 'online' system has been introduced to ease administrative work and deliver services to tourists more easily. From Tuesday, all applications will have to be submitted online through the 'Single Sign-On' portal. Decided to discontinue 'Bank Receipt System' for online services. Instead an online payment gateway has been introduced. QR code with sound-box will be used for payment. QR payment receipt will be accepted as the only proof of payment. Physical submission of application forms or exchange of paper documents for hotel and resort, 'bed and breakfast', service apartment, holiday home, homestay and restaurant bookings is discontinued.
For services which have not yet introduced online facility — such as booking of travel agents, adventure tour operators, outdoor photographers, tourist guides and cooks, the old method of submitting applications in person or in person will remain in place for the time being.
