Vietnam gold prices rose Tuesday morning to the highest since July 6, continuing its recovery which began almost a week ago.

Saigon Jewelry Company gold bar went up 0.40% to VND150.6 million (US$5,757.21) per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.

Gold ring added 1.31% to VND155 million per tael. Gold prices in Vietnam have fallen 1.4% since the beginning of the year.

Globally gold advanced 0.04% to $4,653.70 per ounce Tuesday, following a surge of 2.91% in the previous two sessions, according to Kitco.

Gold cleared several additional technical hurdles last week that could have served as resistance.

Gold’s ability to push higher against even a modestly stronger dollar suggests the move is being driven more by safe-haven demand and concerns about the U.S. fiscal and monetary outlook than by dollar weakness alone.
