“Golden era of Sanatan came under Modi rule”, said CM Pushkar Singh Dhami in Bhagwat Katha.
Uttarkashi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was seen in a different style on Saturday. The head of the state reached remote Nagan village of Barkot tehsil, where he participated in Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. The CM, who arrived amidst the beats of Dhol-Damau and immense enthusiasm of the local people, not only experienced spiritual peace but also wished for the happiness, prosperity and public welfare of the state. Actually, this visit of the Chief Minister was completely related to spirituality and sensitivities.
This event was organized on the occasion of the annual Shraddha of late Uma Devi, wife of Bharatiya Janata Party’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan. Chief Minister Dhami reached the spot of the story and paid tribute to the departed soul and spent time with the bereaved family. During this, he sat on the ground with the devotees and listened to the story of God, due to which the local people present there were quite impressed.

While addressing the gathering present during the Katha, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stressed on the coordination of religion and politics. He said that ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge of the country, the ‘golden era’ of Sanatan Dharma has returned to India. Giving examples of the grand Ram Temple of Ayodhya and the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor of Varanasi, the CM said that today our cultural heritage is being respected all over the world.
The Chief Minister said, “Listening to Shrimad Bhagwat Katha is not just a religious ritual, but it is a medium to awaken the intelligence and conscience of man. It not only provides guidance to living human beings, but also helps our ancestors attain Vaikuntha Dham.” He praised the spiritual environment of Nagan village and described it as a center of spiritual peace.
‘Our Uttarakhand is as sacred as Vrindavan’
Comparing Uttarakhand with the spiritual city Vrindavan, Dhami said that the same importance is there in Vrindavan Dham, similar is the sanctity of our Devbhoomi, where the actual Char Dham resides. Sharing the vision of his government, the Chief Minister said that after the grand reconstruction of Kedarnath, work is now going on at a fast pace in Badrinath Dham under the master plan.
While discussing the development works, he clarified that development is not a one day event, rather it is a continuous process. He said that the aim of the government is to reach the mainstream of development to the people sitting at the farthest end of the state. The Chief Minister also stressed the need to preserve the cultural identity of the state along with development.
CM gifts ‘Barat Ghar’ to Nagan village
This visit of the Chief Minister was not only religious, but also became a means of solving local problems. Taking immediate cognizance of the demand of the village head, CM Dhami assured to build a ‘Barat Ghar’ in Nagan village. After this announcement by the Chief Minister, there was a wave of happiness among the villagers. According to the local people, the need for a community hall or baraat ghar was being felt in the village for a long time, which the Chief Minister has now assured to complete.
On this occasion, along with the Chief Minister, many senior leaders and officers of the state were also present. Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, former Chief Minister and senior leader Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Purola MLA Durgeshwar Lal and Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan also participated in the program. On behalf of the administration, many senior officials including District Magistrate Prashant Arya and Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Upadhyay were present to take stock of the security and arrangements.
The atmosphere of Nagan village remained devotional during the entire program. After concluding the story, the Chief Minister met the local public representatives and also took feedback regarding the development works of the area. In the evening the Chief Minister left for Dehradun, but his visit remains a topic of discussion for the people of Barkot area.
