Patna. There’s good news for teachers teaching in government schools in Bihar. They may no longer need to repeatedly visit the office or contact the relevant official to apply for leave. The Education Department is preparing to digitalize the entire process related to teachers’ leave.
Once the new system is implemented, teachers will be able to apply for leave from home using their mobile phones or computers. Information regarding where the application has been received, the action taken on it, and whether the leave has been approved is also planned to be made available online.
Digital Process from Application to Approval
In the proposed system, the entire leave process will be kept online. Teachers will log in to the relevant portal and submit their leave application. The application will then reach the relevant controlling officer digitally. The officer will be required to decide on the application within the stipulated time. The objective of this system is to reduce the time required for leave-related work and make the application status transparent.
A separate portal will be created for each district
According to the Education Department’s plan, district-wise portals will be created for teachers’ leave applications. These portals will be monitored by the respective District Education Officer (DEO). Teachers will be able to apply on the portal based on their controlling officer. It will be mandatory to enter a mobile number during the application process, so that information about application submission and decision-making reaches the teacher directly.
Decisions will be received within 24 hours of application
The new system is planning to set a time limit to reduce the likelihood of applications being left pending indefinitely. The relevant officer is proposed to make a decision within 24 hours of receiving an online application. Information about whether the leave has been approved or rejected will also be sent to the teacher via mobile phone. This will eliminate the need to repeatedly visit the office to update the application.
Complete leave records will be maintained on the portal
The digital system plans to make available not only new applications but also a teacher’s leave record. Teachers will be able to view information online about the number of days of leave they have previously taken and the number of days of leave remaining in their account.
Records of various types of leave, including medical leave, can also be recorded digitally. When applying, teachers must indicate the category of leave they wish to avail of. The application will then be decided based on the available leave and applicable regulations.
