Good news for these employees in UP, arrears with increase in DA

Varanasi. Increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) has been approved for more than 10 thousand academic and non-academic employees of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The university administration has taken this decision as per the guidelines of the Finance Ministry, which has been formally implemented after the approval of the Vice Chancellor.

According to the issued notification, the employees will get the benefit of increased DA rates in the salary of April only. The special thing is that the outstanding arrears from January to March 2026 will also be paid along with the salary for April. With this decision, there will be a lump sum increase in the income of the employees, which is being considered a big relief in the current inflationary period.

How much increase in DA?

The rates of dearness allowance have been revised on the basis of pay commissions. Under the 7th Pay Commission, DA has been increased from 58% to 60%. Whereas under the 6th Pay Commission, DA has increased from 257% to 262%. This amendment will be considered effective from January 1, 2026, that is, employees will also get three months of arrears.

What will be the benefit to the employees?

This decision will have a direct impact on the salaries of the employees. By increasing DA, the allowance on basic salary will increase, which will increase the total salary. Apart from this, by getting the arrears, a good lump sum amount will also come in hand, which will strengthen the financial situation.

Order sent to every department

The university administration has sent this order to all the institutes, faculties, departments and offices, so that it can be implemented on time. This will ensure that every employee gets the benefit of the increased rates without any delay. This increase in DA and payment of arrears has brought great relief to the employees. Amid rising inflation, this decision will help them manage their financial situation and will also boost efficiency.
